USES: Bimatoprost is used to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma (open-angle type) or other eye diseases (such as ocular hypertension). Lowering high pressure inside the eye can help prevent blindness. This medication may work by helping fluid inside the eye to flow out, which lowers pressure inside the eye. This implant may be placed only one time in each eye.

Indications : ocular hypertension, open angle glaucoma

SIDE EFFECTS: Eye redness, swelling, discomfort, dry eye, blurred vision, and a feeling of a foreign body in the eye may occur after the procedure. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. This medication may slowly (over months to years) cause brown discoloration of the colored portion of the eye (iris). If you are using this product in only one eye, only that iris may change color. These changes may be permanent, but the long-term effects are unknown. Tell your doctor if this occurs, and schedule regular eye exams to monitor it. Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: vision changes, increased eye pain/swelling/sensitivity to light. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. In the US - Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or at www.fda.gov/medwatch. In Canada - Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to Health Canada at 1-866-234-2345.
